How to manage a smart kitchen

Imagine how easier life would be if an oven could help you create the tastiest daily menu, and then determine the cooking temperature and the estimated time for preparation. Or imagine a dishwasher that you can control remotely. Or a fridge that tracks the ingredients all together with their expiration dates, and then makes suggestions for shopping and recipes that you will love.

How does it all sound to you? Is it unrealistic, or too perfect? Our series of smart home articles will explain all these mysteries, so you can understand the benefits of automatization. This time, we’ll focus on the kitchen.

The first thing you need to know about smart kitchens is that automated devices can save you between 30% and 50% of energy. In doing so, they can make the room more practical.

Confused? You are still not quite clear how the automated house helps you to save money? Then stay put. We will show you how it actually works.

#1 Timely Awareness of Problems

You are preparing an easy meal before leaving the apartment, but when you do leave, one burner remains on. A few minutes later, your smart oven “realizes” that the device is on for too long and sends a notification to your phone so you can respond. You do it right away by using the appropriate phone app and the burner gets turned off even though you are already miles away.

The same applies in case you do not have to act exactly that second. For example, when certain parts of kitchen appliances are off when the light breaks down in the (microwave) oven when the electricity goes off, and so on.

#2 Remote Control

Besides the above-mentioned cases, the remote control can also be used for supervision. With tiny cameras in the refrigerator and kitchen cabinets, you will always be able to know which ingredients you already have at home and what you need to buy. This way, you can also track their estimated shelf life.

#3 Light and Ventilation

Although we’ve already talked about the benefits of the automated shades, we would now like to emphasize their importance in smart kitchen usage. Every kitchen deserves a great ventilation system and daylight access. Thus, when it comes to the overall ambiance and comfort, automation is more than welcome. Another good thing about smart kitchens is that you do not have to think hours in advance. It will all be taken care of – even when you are not at home.

#4 Smart Design

No smart kitchen is actually attractive without a smart design. And this is where we step in. Although our technical partners will make sure that all devices are neat and tidy and that no cables are off, it is our job to merge technique and design into one functional unit. In many households, the kitchen presents the central room where the family spends most of the time together. As such, it should support not only your lifestyle but also your preferred aesthetics.
