Hotel Rousseau

The owners of the Hotel Rousseau in the old town center bought a neighboring building in the 18th century. They had the idea to expand the capacity of the hotel. The new space had to be connected to the existing space, both physically and in the same style.

The client decided to have 13 apartments, a fitness room and a reception desk in the new facility. By adding a glass corridor between objects, the client successfully linked the objects into one whole.

They wanted two-bed apartments as well. It was necessary to provide a way to connect beds in one apartment with separate beds. The new ones should remain a harmonious whole.

Our clients wanted an unexpected detail in apartments with a double beda baldachin.  They expected it could add both warmth and extravagance to the apartment. However, they hoped it can be designed in such a way that the hotel staff can easily maintain it.

With a partially transparent divider, each room is connected to the bathroom.

The big challenge was to incorporate modern furniture elements into the old building. We chose an industrial style by combining black metal and dark wood, as a contrast to the light oak floor and white walls.

With special techniques, the existing wooden beams and brick walls were restored. This gave a special charm to the new hotel areas. The turquoise color is defined with the hotel’s visual identity book and brings vitality to the whole area.
